Things I love Friday’s – My Homemade Chalkboards.

20130308-174305.jpgI love things that are Pretty and Practical.  And this project, inspired by Rhonda Fast, is very much both.  Chalk boards made from old frames and spray paint.  Awesome, right?  I am so pleased with how they turned out.  After I read her post I know this was something I wanted to try.  So one day after school {more to come on that later} I stopped by the Salvation Army & browsed the frames there.  And later stopped by the Rona near by for two cans of spray paint, one matte white and one black chalkboard can.  20130308-174358.jpgSoon as I could I spread some news paper and got spraying.  20130308-174337.jpgWhen they were dry I put them back together and hung the smaller one in the kitchen for our weekly menu. And, my favourite, the larger one in our bedroom for the Bible Passage I’m working on memorizing.  Currently it’s Colossians 1:15-20 20130308-174321.jpg

One of the areas in my christian life I’d let go of actively working on was bible memory and recently I was convicted that this was an important area to work on.  To truly know the Word of God and have it at the forefront of my mind.  Words that remind me who God is and of His care, and provision.  And words that remind me who I’m called to be in Him.

So with a big chalkboard on the wall I read and remember.  – (And try to memorize)

That:     15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16 For by[f] him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. 18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. 19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, 20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
